2011 VMA: "Time Travel"

The 2011 VMA show premiered last night on MTV. I've been waiting for over a month for this exciting show. This year's theme was "Time Travel". "We met up half a year ago and VMA Executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic came up with the idea to create a time tunnel," explained VMA main stage production designer Florian Wieder. As I was watching the show It brought a futuristic feel to it. The production of the show this year has topped the charts of previous years. The stage designer's intent was to make us feel as if we were on a mind-tripping journey. The whole design was based on a tunnel that is right in the center of the stage. The lighting during the show was very eye catching and it made it easier to interact with the performance. Also, like like the pre-show, the main broadcast incorporated bright, intriguing, pop-art style colors, and a black and white theme. This was to set the stage for the performers: Adele, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Kanye West, Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Pitbull, and Ne-Yo. The VMAs scored its largest viewing audience ever. There were more than 12.4 million viewers throughout the show. The stage designer of this year's show is a complete genius. The stage helped enhance all of the performances. There was one that stood out the most. In my opinion, Chris Brown had the best performance. He really took advantage of the stage and the venue itself. He was creative and very acrobatic and interactive with the crowd during his performance. In the video you can see how Chris Brown was uniquely innovative. The "Time Travel" theme supported his performance. The choice of lighting used and the overall production helped create a memorable yet successful performance. This year's Video Music Award Show will go down in the Entertainment Industry's history.
